This post discuss about fish and vegetables suitable for aquaponics farming in India. It suggests the fishes and plants which have the qualities like easy to grow, high demand in market and suitable for growing in Indian conditions. Fishes and plants listed below are only for the beginners in aquaponics farming; professionals have their own choice.

Relation between water, fish and plants.

The following formulae are used for calculating fish density and plant grow bed area in an aquaponics system; 10L, water/1fish (400gm) and 2sq.feet grow bed area/1kg fish. As per these formulas, we could accommodate 100 fishes of total weight 40kg and get a grow bed area of 80 sq.feets with a 1000L aquaponics fish tank.
